Uploading Files
Various procedures in RMS require you to upload les to the RMS server. These include:
Uploading an Options File
Uploading an RMS Conguration File
Uploading a DACS backup le for restoration
Uploading a le to a DACS’ le system
Uploading an XML le for model documentation
Selecting les for upload from shared network volumes (over Samba, NFS or Windows’ Network
Neighborhood) may produce unexpected results. If RMS indicates that an error has occurred after
uploading a le in this manner, try copying the le to your local PC from the remote system, and
select the local copy for le upload.
Also, depending on the computer and web browser that you are using to access RMS, when you
click on the “Browse...button to upload a le, you may seemingly be unable to locate the desired
le on your computer. This happens because the RMS and DACS systems use unique le exten-
sions such as “.opt”, “.conf”, “.cfg”, etc.
Using Windows95/98/2000/ME/NT with either Netscape or Internet Explorer
In the dialog box that pops up after clicking the “Browse...” button, locate the pull-down menu
labeled “Files of type”. This may default to “HTML Files (*.htm,*.html)”. Click on the pull-down
menu, and select “All Files (*.*)”. This will allow you to access every kind of le on your com-
puter.
Also, when uploading les that MUST be named a certain way in order to work (e.g.,
“telestra.opt” or “telestra.conf”), be aware that the Windows operating system may try to force
capitalization to “Telestra.opt” or “Telestra.conf” in the upload form. You should rst click
“Browse...” to locate the le, then click “OK”. Check the lename in the slot of the upload form
before clicking “Upload File” button! If capitalization has been forced, change the lename to
all lower-case letters in the slot on the form before uploading. Failure to maintain all lower-case
lenames for these les will result in RMS not recognizing that they have been uploaded.
Using Linux systems (with KDE or Gnome) running Netscape
In the dialog box that pops up after clicking the “Browse...button, locate the “Filter” section. If it
has a wildcard (*) with a le extension (e.g., “/home/me/*.html”) anywhere in that eld, you
should remove the “*.html” (or “*.whatever”). This will allow you to access every kind of le on
your local le system. If you’re running Mozilla (not recommended), look for the “Files of type”
menu, and make changes as described in the Windows section above.
Using MacOS with either Netscape or Internet Explorer
Users should be able to access any le on their system without making any changes to the pop-up
dialog box.
