DSP Missing from DACS Information
If there is a DSP card (either TDM or Waveform Synthesizer) in a DACS system that isn’t show-
ing up on the “DACS Information” page after you click “Find DSPs”, there are a few things you’ll
need to check.
1. Verify that the DACS options file supports multiple DSPs. To do this, click on the “DACS
Info” option in the DACS Menu (blue blocks in frame). In the “Software Information”
table, look for the line “Max. # DSPs Supported”. If this line appears to be incorrect, you
will need a new options file for the DACS system. Contact ASTi with the system’s serial
number for more information.
2. Verify that the DACS configuration file on the system specifies the correct number of DSP
cards. To do this, click on the “Config.” menu option in the DACS Menu. In the “Current
Configuration File” table, click the “View” icon next to the “Loaded File” line. There
should be a line in the file (which appears in a new browser window) like this:
number_dsps=X
...where “X” is 1, 2, or 3. If there is no such line in the configuration file, or the line is
incorrect, you will have to add/edit the line from the DACS system directly.
3. Verify that all the DSPs that you’re supposed to have are correctly seated and installed in
the DACS chassis, and are functioning properly.
DSP Not Responding
The presence of a DSP icon with a red “X” indicates that RMS cannot get information about a
certain DSP, because it is not responding.
1. Verify that the currently-loaded DACS configuration file reflects the correct number of
DSPs in the system (click on the “Config.” menu option, then click on the “View” link of
the configuration file indicated as -> Loaded <-).
For example, if there is a line in the configuration file “number_dsps=2” when the DACS
system has only one (1) hardware DSP card, RMS will return the red “X” alert message.
2. If the “number_dsps” line in the DACS config. file is correct, however, the missing DSP
could be incorrectly configured, or it could be malfunctioning.
RIU Not Responding
The presence of an RIU icon with a red “X” indicates that the RIU listed in the Telestra RMS con-
figuration file did not appear to be connected to the specified DSP card.
1. Verify that the RIU is connected to the TDM ring properly.
2. Verify that the RIU is synchronized with the TDM ring. The green LED on synchronized
RIUs will blink at a slower rate (~1 Hz) than on unsynchronized RIUs (~5Hz). If the RIU
is not synchronized, make sure that the running model includes an RIU Input object corre-
sponding to that RIU’s address.
3. Verify that the RIU is assigned to the proper DSP card in the RMS configuration file.
4. Verify that the RIU Address in the RMS configuration file matches the physical hardware
address set on the RIU itself.
